On Saturday the 25th of July 2026 at The Palais Theatre, Melbourne, Victoria, 1669 Pitchface choir members and audience dressed as the largest gathering of people wearing double-denim in a night of unforgettable music.
Pitchface was born 8 years ago when four friends - ABC news anchor Tamara
Oudyn, Harriet O’Donnell, and sisters Domenique and Tessa Meyrick – hatched a
plan over a bottle of wine in Footscray.
Little did they know they’d go on to sing with some big names in music at some of
Melbourne’s best venues, including:
● Coldplay at Marvel Stadium
● Sarah Blasko, Liz Stringer, David Campbell and Dave Gleeson at Hamer Hall
for RocKwiz
● National anthem singers at this years Australian Open Womens Final on Rod
Laver Arena
● Pub Choir at The Forum (supporting artists)
● Sammy J at Melbournes Town Hall
Now they can add Palais Theatre and a world record to their list of highlights.
“Standing on that iconic stage and singing to an audience decked out in some of the
best double denim outfits we’re ever likely to see was surreal,” said Tamara Oudyn.
“Melbourne, you are the best! You helped us absolutely smash this record,” said
Harriet O’Donnell.
The rules were simple: blue denim only, with at least two pieces covering the top and
bottom half.
“It’s not every day a concert audience is asked to dress up to help make history, but
our fans leant into this request with gusto – and we love them for it,” said Domenique
Meyrick.
“There’s been a huge lead-up to this – the choir has worked so hard to produce an
amazing gig and spread the word about the record attempt and it’s all paid off. We
could not be happier,” said Tessa Meyrick.
