Vale Barry Humphries, loved by the world, is the actor who portrayed the same character over the longest period of time, ever.

 

Barry Humphries achieved something that may never happen again. He commenced his witty comedic character of Dame Edna Everage in 1955 and this most loved character lasted for 66 years and 62 days.

 

Most Aussies are acquainted with the greeting, “Hello Possums”, thanks to Dame Edna.

 

Barry Humphries worked up to the age of 88 years, sadly passing at 89 years of age in 2023.
