Large painting, Henri’s armchair, by artist Brett Whiteley, found a new home at an art auction that started with an opening bid of $4.5 million. In just 5 minutes the painting reached the record price of $6.136 million (including the buyer’s premium charged by the auction house). Henri’s armchair was painted in 1974 at Brett’s home studio in Sydney’s Lavender Bay.
