Shane Warne, was undoubtedly Australia’s greatest ever bowler and took 708 Test wickets. Pictured right he is being applauded by his team mates walking off the MCG, becoming the first bowler to take 700 Test wickets by dismissing England’s Andrew Strauss on Boxing Day of the fourth Ashes Test in 2006. Warnies first ball bowled in England was to England’s Mike Gatting at Old Trafford, Manchester, in the 1993 series. The art of leg spin was demonstrated pitching on leg stump and violently spinning past the bat to hit Gatting’s off stump, putting fear into batsmen around the globe. Shane Warne took leg spin bowling and world cricket to another level, his wicket taking and entertainment will live on forever. Thank you WARNIE.
