Pull up with a 35kg weight plate over 60's category

On Friday the 8th of August 2025, Mark O'Connor's successfully completed a pull up with a 35kg weight plate attached to his body at the Coburg Leisure Centre, Bell Street, Coburg, Victoria.

Mark weighs 70kg and is aged over 60 years old, so to be able to complete a pull up with half of his body weight attached in a weight plate is a remarkable achievement.

The weight plates were observed and measured and attached to the weight belt.
They are weight plates owned by Coburg Leisure Centre and are extremely accurate. There
were 2 x 15kgs yellow coloured plates and 2 x 2.5 kg black coloured plates. Totalling 35 kgs.
(A little more with belt and chain attached).

Mark successfully completed a full pull up with the weight attached. Beginning with
straight arms to proceeding to chin above the bar and returning to the starting position, showing great strength and determination.
