Ten Pin Bowling

27th March, 2023

Karina Peters and Holly Levers attended the Shoalhaven City Lanes Tenpin Bowling , in Bomaderry NSW, where they bowled for two hours from 10.30am to 12.35pm, with one five minute break at 11.30am that was allowable within the record rules.

Serena Copley, Ward 1 Councillor Shoalhaven City Council and Sean Douglas, the Programs Manager, Schools and Youth, Special Olympics Australia, were in attendance to witness the duo’s record accomplishment.

The total string pins pinfall were 2,904 for Karina and 1,792 for Holly, totalling a 4,696 pinfall.

The girl’s incredible effort was to break a record, as well as fundraise for One Door Mental Health, Nowra, NSW.

Both the girls have been bowling in disability leagues and competitions for many years, including NSW Disability State Championships and National Disability Championships.

Karina began bowling at the age of ten with the Hornsby Rockets. The Hornsby alley closed, but that didn’t discourage Karina from continuing her bowling with the new Rockets team at Rooty Hill before moving to the South Coast where she then made her home at Shoalhaven City Lanes Ten Pin Bowling.

Holly through Special Olympics has had a go at everything, including cricket and bocce, but she ended up back at tenpin bowling.

Karina and Holly found each other at Shoalhaven City Lanes Tenpin Bowling and have become great friends. They bowl in a league together along with Holly’s uncle and Karina’s mum.
