On the 27th of August 2026, at the Market City Shopping Centre in Haymarket, based in the central atrium on level one, a full sized badminton court with a length of 15.2m x 7.2m in width was installed representing the first badminton court built in a shopping mall in the Southern Hemisphere.
Part of the AFT International Sports Fitness Festival, which included the Sydney Haymarket Badminton Challenge.
Demonstrations by professional and para-athletes, a competition and opportunities for community members to participate and experience the wonderful world of badminton.
