Professor Ian Frazer was born in 1953 in Scotland. Spending a lot of time working in Australia he continued his work on the Human Papillomavirus vaccine
( HPV), and cervical cancer. Working together, with help from the late molecular virologist Dr Jian Zhoi, their studies led to the development of a vaccine which prevents infection with HPV and cervical cancer.
