NEOEN the France-based renewable energy company has begun operations in Geelong, Victoria at its 300MW/450MWh Victorian Big Battery.

 

Claimed to be one of the world’s largest batteries, the storage facility is built next to the Moorabool Terminal Station in Geelong, taking the record

 

from the Jamestown, Adelaide Tesla-built 100 megawatt lithium ion battery. Tesla and AusNet Services collaborated on The Victorian Big Battery project.

 

Tesla deployed its Megapack technology for the project, while AusNet Services served as the network partner.

 

During unexpected network outages, the battery will respond automatically and immediately to help AEMO ensure grid stability.
