Discovery of Penicillin
Howard Walter Florey, Pathologist, was born in Adelaide SA in 1898. He was Professor of Pathology at the University of Sheffield 1931-35, and then at the University of Oxford 1935-62. He received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1945 for the discovery of penicillin and its curative effect in various infectious diseases.
