Australia's longest living married couple

Australia's longest living married couple

John and Daphne Partridge were married in Maitland, NSW on the 31st October,
1942, making them Australia’s longest living married couple, enjoying 81 happy
years together to date.

John served in the war stationed at New Guinea, he left as a strong and strapping
lad and returned a former shadow of himself. Thanks to Daphne’s nurturing and
caring nature and good cooking skills he soon regained his strength and stamina.

They have two children Vicki born in 1946 and Robert born in 1949.

They purchased their first home in Telarah, a suburb in Maitland NSW and lived
there for an incredible 76 years.

Vicki can remember a wonderful upbringing with lots of garden, fresh vegetables and there were always freshly cut flowers around the house.

Daphne used to drink parsley water, “there was always a good supply in the fridge”, said daughter Vicki. Perhaps there was some magic in this!

The devoted couple now reside at Rutherford Park Aged Care where sadly Daphne recently suffered a stroke. John never leaves Daphne’s side such is their love and commitment to each other.
