Largest nuclear bomb detonation

Taranaki is the site of the largest nuclear bomb detonation (by the British army) at Maralinga, South Australia.

It was larger than the bomb that devastated Hiroshima.

There were two major tests, Operation Buffalo in 1956 and Operation Antler the next year.

The 550 minor trials were said to generate far more contamination than the major tests.
