Australia's first European Queen

Australia's first European Queen

Tasmanian, Mary Donaldson, as, Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, has risen to the rank of queen when her husband, Crown Prince Frederik, was proclaimed king of that European nation Sunday 14th of January 2024.

The 51-year-old Crown Princess Mary's unlikely journey from Tasmania to European royalty as the world’s first Australian-born queen occurred because Queen Margarethe 11, became the first Danish royal to abdicate in 900 years, paving the way two weeks later to proclaim King Frederik X of Denmark and Queen Mary.
