Australia’s longest-serving brass band radio presenter

Geoffrey McGregor was born in April 1960 and his association with brass bands commenced at the age of 7, some 57 years ago.

The first programme Geoffrey Produced & Presented went to air 13 June 1982 - (42 years, and 4 months ago).

The programme is called “Brass Encounters” aired on 2NUR-FM 103.7 a Community Radio Station located at the University of Newcastle, Callaghan, New South Wales.

The programme is worldwide via the net and is broadcast weekly on a Sunday night. The stations website also has episodes available for listening.

Geoffrey supplies his own recordings which he accesses from all over the world at his own expense.

Geoffrey played in bands for 53 years until illness, lung disease, prevented him from being able to continue.

For the last 20 years he has been involved with “Cardiff Brass” playing tenor horn for 16 years until 2020. He has been on the band committee for 19 years, was vice president for 7 years before becoming the band secretary a position he has held for the past 12 years.
